Hued Curls

I am officially a red head and I love it! I really tried to get the henna color pay off to work for me but it just wasn't what I wanted. The henna did tint my hair and make my curls super soft and conditioned but I wanted my hair red. I went back and forth about dying it because I was nervous about damage and breakage but I am at the point now where I know how to care for my strands. I also wasn't going to lighten my hair like I did the first time I colored it, earlier in my journey. My hair cannot take bleach lightening, so I was worried that the color wouldn't be as vibrant as I wanted but it came out fine.

When choosing a red  I knew I wanted my hair to be a dark burgundy, purple color. So I went the salon and discovered my options. We decided to go with an Aveda color called "Red Violet." What I like about this color is that it's dark but when the sun hits it the true color shows, it's very vibrant but not overpowering.

Since my hair is dyed I will have to take extra care of it. I have gotten the hang of protective styling and will continue to utilize it to make sure I am retaining length. I have been babying my hair for months now and am pretty happy with my growth, length and moisture retention. I will keep everyone posted if my regimen should change! I know I have said this before but I do not recommend coloring your hair before the 2 year natural mark. That was my biggest mistake but if you think you can handle the maintenance, then the choice is yours.

What do y'all think about the color?

    xoxo,
    Alex
